<p>De nationale vlag van de Democratische Republiek Congo is rechthoekig, met een verhouding van 3∶2. De vlag is hemelsblauw, met zes gele pentakelsterren verticaal helemaal links en een grotere gele pentakel in het midden. De zes sterren vertegenwoordigen de zes oorspronkelijke provincies van de democratische republiek congo toen het onafhankelijk werd in 1960. De democratische republiek congo (DRC) was vroeger het "privé-landgoed" van de koning van België, bekend als de "vrije staat van Congo ". Het werd onafhankelijk in februari 1960 en wordt de republiek Congo genoemd met zijn buren. Op 1 augustus 1964 werd het omgedoopt in de democratische republiek Congo. Op 27 oktober 1971 werd het omgedoopt in de republiek Zaïre. Op 17 mei 1997 strijdkrachten van de democratische krachten voor de bevrijding van de Congo (DRC) alliantie onder leiding van Lang Kabila veroverden de hoofdstad Kinshasa en verklaarden zich president van de Republiek Congo. Op 18 februari 2006 heeft de democratische republiek congo een nieuwe grondwet aangenomen en zijn vlag gewijzigd.
